Willkommen an der Universität | Welcome to the University

Hamburg ist eine weltoffene Stadt. Aber Weltoffenheit bedeutet auch Konflikte. Kultureller Verständigung, wissenschaftlicher Austausch und Menschenfreundlichkeit machen diese Konflikte spannend und erfreulich. Marktkonkurrenz und Armut, aggressive Außenpolitik und Fremdenfeindlichkeit machen aus diesen Konflikten alltägliche Repressionen und Kriege.

Wir vom Referat für Internationale Studierende (RiS) sind davon überzeugt, dass jeder durch kollektives Engagement und die Ablehnung jeglicher Konkurrenz dazu beitragen kann, diese Konflikte solidarisch zu gestalten. Der Kampf für die Verbesserung der Studienbedingungen, kritisches Lehren und Lernen und demokratische Einmischung in das universitäre Leben sind unsere Werkzeuge. Wir sind Studierende, die auf diese Weise unsere Gesellschaft verändern.

Internationale Solidarität erwirken wir in der Friedensbewegung, in der Mitgestaltung studentischer Strukturen (Universität, Studentenwerk, Wohnheime, Studienkolleg) und im alltäglichen Austausch mit anderen Studierenden. Als Beratungsstelle, als Ort politischer Assoziierung und als gewähltes Organ der Studierenden an der Universität Hamburg vertreten wir die Interessen der internationalen Studierenden. Alle sind eingeladen, selbst aktiv zu werden!

Deshalb kämpft das Referat für internationale Studierende (RiS) im AStA für:

• Kritische Wissenschaft und Bildung: Für die Überwindung von Kriegen und Konkurrenzdenken, Rassismus,
  (post-)kolonialen Strukturen und Vorurteilen – eine Welt ohne Not, Furcht und Gewalt ist nötig!
• Forschung und Lehre nur zu zivilen Zwecken! – Rüstungsforschung und -exporte aus Hamburg stoppen!
• Für eine bedarfsgerechte Finanzierung von Uni und Studium aus öffentlichen Mitteln – Schluss mit Austerität!
• Für mehr demokratische Beteiligung in den Hochschulen und in der Gesellschaft!

Für internationale Solidarität an der Universität setzen wir uns ein zum Beispiel:

• Für ein BAföG für Alle! Für mehr und bessere Wohnheimplätze!
• Für bessere Beratung und Begleitung für internationale Studierende und Bewerber:innen durch die Uni!
• Erhalt und Ausbau internationaler Wissenschaftskooperationen zur Völkerverständigung!
• Für die Abschaffung des „Finanzierungsnachweises“ (11.904 €) zur Visa-Erteilung!
• Gleiche Rechte für alle!

Miteinander diskutieren! Voneinander lernen! Solidarisch aktiv werden – von Demonstrationen bis zu Festen!

Hamburg is a city open-minded to the world. But openness to the world also means conflict. Cultural understanding, scientific exchange and philanthropy make these conflicts exciting and enjoyable. Market competition and poverty, aggressive foreign policy and xenophobia turn these conflicts into everyday repression and wars.

We at the Department for International Students (RiS) are convinced that everyone can contribute to shaping these conflicts in a spirit of solidarity through collective commitment and the rejection of all competition. The fight for the improvement of study conditions, critical teaching and learning and democratic interference in university life are our tools. We are students who are changing our society in this way.

We achieve international solidarity in the peace movement, in the co-design of student structures (university, student union, halls of residence, preparatory college) and in everyday exchange with other students. As an advice centre, a place of political association and as an elected body of students at the University of Hamburg, we represent the interests of international students. Everyone is invited to become active!

That is why the Department for International Students (RiS) in the AStA fights for:

• Critical academic research and education: to overcome wars and concurrence, racism, (post-) colonial structures and prejudices – a world without desperation, fear and brutality is necessary!
• Academic research and education only for civil purposes! – Stop research for and export of weapons and military equipment from Hamburg!
• For need-based public funding of the university and studies – stop austerity!
• For more democracy in the universities and in society!
• For face-to-face education, to further those goals – education is a human right!

We stand for international solidarity at the university; some things that we want to further:

• For BAföG for all! For more and better places in halls of residence!
• For better counselling and support for international students and applicants by the university!
• Preservation and expansion of international academic cooperation for international understanding!
• For the abolition of the „proof of funding“ (11.904 €) for the granting of visas!
• Equal rights for all!
